Bringing ideas that simplify life together with creative designs, Bien continued its support for the architecture sector by serving as the main sponsor of this year’s TürkSMD Architecture Awards, held biennially.
As one of the leading brands in the construction sector in Türkiye and around the world, Bien continues its mission to promote the universal values of architecture and support the industry. In this context, the 16th edition of the Architecture Awards organized by the Turkish Association of Freelance Architects (TürkSMD) was held this year with Bien as the main sponsor. At the award ceremony attended by 250 architects, 12 awards were presented across five categories. Bien also received a plaque of appreciation for its contributions to the field of architecture.
The winners of the TürkSMD Architecture Awards, which honor architectural projects and practitioners who contribute significantly to the profession, were announced at a ceremony held on October 4 at the Sheraton Hotel in Ankara. In the awards presented in four main categories, architect Kaya Arıkoğlu received the “TSMD Grand Award” for his remarkable contributions to the art of architecture and the inspiration he provides to future generations. Arıkoğlu was deemed worthy of the award for his consistent professional stance over more than 50 years, adherence to professional ethics and values, and valuable contributions to his city and the architectural community, as well as the originality reflected in his work.
The “TSMD Building Award,” which recognizes architects whose works set an example in design and implementation processes, was presented to:
Bilgin Architectural Design Office for the Karapınar Solar Power Plant (GES) Central Control Building,
SCRA Architecture and CBN Architecture for the Çanakkale Municipality “Green” Local Government and Cultural Center Building and its surrounding landscape project,
Teğet Architecture for the Sille Primary School project.
The “TSMD Press & Publication Award” was given to the Yedi Yapım Documentary Series and to the book series Modern Turkish Architecture in Lines, prepared for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, for their significant contributions to promoting architecture to the public.
For their contributions to the architectural profession, Sibel Bozdoğan, Pelin Derviş, and Ankara Aks were honored with the “TSMD Contribution to Architecture Award.”
The ODTÜ (METU) Department of Architecture Emergency Design Studio and ARCH190 Summer Internship Team, Urbar Urbanization and Architecture Office with their Beyazıt Square redevelopment project, and Arzu Özsavaşçı Architecture & KOOP Architecture with their Seddülbahir Castle project were all honored with the “Jury Special Award.”
